Meet pivot language
Pivot language is the language into which you translate your text with the intention of using it as a basis for translating into other languages.
In many cases, English is the language of choice for Pivot as it is a common second language and is widely used in business. However, other languages can, and in some cases should, be used in place of English (more on that later).
The reason for this is to simplify and facilitate the translation process for both translators and the client requesting the translation.
Using this language also allows you to take full advantage of machine translation tools. Due to the way Machine Tools work, they have a higher degree of accuracy when translating in language pairs.
Defects
Like any language, pivot language also has some disadvantages.
Above all, the longer process means that any corrections or corrections that need to be made after the documentation is finalized and translated will take longer.
Your source document, with any additional changes, will need to be updated in your Pivot language before it can be changed in other translations of your text.
This adds a step to the process and therefore more time for urgent fixes.
In addition, you will introduce an extra step in the translation process, which leaves more room for human error.
If you make any mistakes while translating into Pivot, they will be repeated in all your translations. If they are not noticed, it can lead to further costly corrections.
